My Life
I was born in Wales in 2000, and when I was three I moved to Mallorca, an island I consider my home.
I’ve studied a lot throughout my life; in fact, I didn’t stop studying until 2026.
When I was 5, I knew I wanted to do something with cameras. I remember going on school trips and making my own reports. I wish I’d kept some of them.
That’s why today I have a degree in audiovisual communication, experience in the 3D and VFX sector, and finally a master’s degree in digital marketing and e-commerce management. I’ve also worked as a journalist and managed social media, and I’ve been editing videos since I was 15 (with which I created YouTube content that, thank goodness, I’ve hidden, haha).
Actually, everything I’ve studied in one way or another has helped me to be able to create, whether it’s my own business or my own patterns… and I couldn’t be happier that this has turned out to be my path. I think my 5-year-old self would be very happy with how everything has turned out.
My Passion for Crochet
Crochet has been my passion for a long time before I actually took it up… let me explain:
When I was young, I knew I wanted to pursue art, but my problem was deciding exactly what form it would take.
I tried making earrings out of resin and clay, and although I enjoyed the process, I just couldn’t connect with it.
It wasn’t until I was 16 that I plucked up the courage to try crochet. I bought the most basic and cheapest materials I could find and followed a tutorial for a whale… which turned out… decent.
I realised that wasn’t the right time for crochet; it caught my attention, yes, but… something just didn’t feel right. It wasn’t until I turned 22 that, finding myself in a rather difficult situation, I realised that crochet was calling to me again… but this time for real.
Even though I’d only done one tutorial five years earlier, I felt capable of creating my own patterns. I dug out the hooks, yarn and stuffing I’d bought, and started crocheting again. Somehow I still remembered how to do single crochet stitches, increases… both back then and now, I’m still surprised by that.
This is what has brought me to where I am today. A passion that began to knock on my door and, once it decided the time was right, came back to stay.
My Present
I’m writing this in 2026, and I suppose I’ll be adding a few updates as time goes on.
My shop was born out of necessity. Unfortunately, tourism has taken over my island to such an extent that we locals can no longer afford to live here. Houses are very expensive and there’s hardly any work (and if there is, they don’t pay enough to live on!). That’s why I’ve left behind the place where I grew up and my family, whom I love dearly and who have ALWAYS supported me, to move to Belgium with my partner. A country where I don’t speak the language and where it will be very difficult for me to find a job, which is why I need this to work… and nothing scares me more than not being able to pay the bills and having to go back to my parents to start from scratch.
Next Month I’m moving to Belgium and I’ll be launching my little creation into the world, a website that has taken me FOREVER to create and which I consider a little piece of myself.
So, I hope it’s worked out and that my future self has managed to make a living from her passion, pay the bills every month and stay with the love of her life without having to move back in with her parents. I hope that those who have discovered my art have enjoyed it as much as I have enjoyed creating it, and that you can sense my passion for my projects in every pattern.
Never give up and follow your dreams; you only live once, and it’s better to try and fail than never to have tried at all.
A hug full of love, fear and excitement.
Nina
